Early life and Education
Diamonté Quiava Valentin Harper, better known as Saweetie, was born in Santa Clara, California, on July 2, 1993. Her father, Johnny, is African-American, while Trinidad, her mother, is Filipina-Chinese.
Saweetie was raised in the Sacramento region and attended Merrill F. West High School before transferring to Monterey Trail High School, where she received her high school diploma. She began writing her own songs when she was 13 years old.
Saweetie began her college studies at San Diego State University before transferring to the University of Southern California to finish her communications degree.

When Saweetie’s mother, Trinidad Valentin, was 17, she gave birth to her; at the time, she was a music video celebrity. Valentin, though, was a model at the time and appeared in a lot of your favorite artists’ music videos in the early 2000s.
