  • Spiderhead (June 17, 2022).

Sci-fi thriller Spiderhead is a 2022 American science fiction film directed by Joseph Kosinski, based on George Saunders’ short tale “Escape from Spiderhead.”

Chris Hemsworth (who also produced) is joined by Miles Teller and Jurnee Smollett in the flick. Filming began in Australia in 2020, just as the COVID-19 pandemic was about to break out.

Spiderhead premiered in Sydney on June 11, 2022, and will be available on Netflix on June 17, 2022. Critics had conflicting feelings about it.

Prison superintendent Steve Abnesti conducts experiments including the use of mood-altering pharmaceuticals on two inmates who are living in a near-future civilization.

In exchange for their cooperation, the inmates can have their sentences reduced. Jeff, an inmate at the jail, takes on the responsibility of caring for another inmate, Rachel, and attempts to manipulate the experiments to save her.

  • The Black Phone (June 24, 2022).

The Black Phone is a Scott Derrickson and Jason Blum production set in the year 2021. By Joe Hill, it is an adaptation of a short tale by Derrickson and C. Robert Cargill. starring Mason Thames as a kidnapped boy who is able to connect with the kidnapper’s previous victims, Ethan Hawke.

Because of his issues with Marvel Studios, Derrickson announced his resignation as director of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness in January of 2020. In light of this decision, Cargill and he formed The Black Phone. When the movie was first revealed in October of 2020, it began filming as soon as February of the following year. Over the course of two months in North Carolina, principal photography wrapped up.

In 2021, on the 25th of September, Fantastic Fest was the site of the world premiere of the Black Phone film. Universal Pictures has set a release date of June 24, 2022, for the film. Critics praised the film’s fidelity to the source material, the directing of Derrickson, and the acting of Hawke as the antagonist.

  • The Man From Toronto (June 24, 2022).

Patrick Hughes’ The Man from Toronto is an upcoming American action comedy film. Kevin Hart and Woody Harrelson star in the film, which also includes Kaley Cuoco, Jasmine Mathews, Lela Loren, Pierson Fodé, Jencarlos Canela, and Ellen Barkin in supporting parts.

The film’s distribution rights were sold to Netflix, and it will be released on June 24, 2022.

  • Elvis (June 24, 2022).

Elvis is a biographical musical drama film directed by Baz Luhrmann in 2022. Luhrmann co-wrote the screenplay with Sam Bromell, Craig Pearce, and Jeremy Doner, based on a story by Luhrmann and Doner. Austin Butler, Tom Hanks, Helen Thomson, Richard Roxburgh, Olivia DeJonge, Luke Bracey, Natasha Bassett, David Wenham, Kelvin Harrison Jr., Xavier Samuel, and Kodi Smit-McPhee star in the film, which was directed by David Wenham. The Ladd Company’s founder Alan Ladd Jr. died in March 2022, and the film is dedicated to his memory.

Luhrmann was set to direct an Elvis Presley biopic in 2014, but the project was not officially announced until March of this year. Butler won the role of the title character in July of that year, beating out Ansel Elgort, Miles Teller, and Harry Styles. Filming began in January 2020 in Luhrmann’s home country of Australia, but was put on hold from March to September due to the outbreak of COVID-19. Filming ended in March 2021, more than a year after it started.

Elvis had his world premiere on May 25, 2022, at the Cannes Film Festival, and is set to be released theatrically in Australia on June 23, 2022, and in the United States on June 24, 2022, by Warner Bros. Pictures. The film received mostly positive reviews from critics, with Butler’s performance receiving almost universal praise.

  • Minions: The Rise of Gru ( July 1, 2022).

“Minions: The Rise of Gru” is a 2022 American computer-animated action comedy film by Illumination and Universal Pictures. Following Minions (2015), this is the fifth Despicable Me movie.

A new picture by Kyle Balda, co-directed by Brad Ableson and Jonathan del Val, features Steve Carell as Gru and Pierre Coffin as the Minions, along with Taraji P. Henson and Michelle Yeoh, RZA, Jean-Claude Van Damme and Lucy Lawless as well as Julie Andrews, Russell Brand and Alan Arkin.

In 2022, Universal Pictures will release Minions: The Rise of Gru, which premiered at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival on June 13th, in the United States on July 1st.
