As the consumer base for online streaming grows rapidly, records are being broken almost every single day. One week after J. Cole’s album, KOD, broke Spotify’s record for the biggest opening day for album streams with 36,656,086 plays, Post Malone has already smashed the record.
The New York rapper’s project, Beerbongs & Bentleys, received a massive 47,930,039 streams in the US alone, approximately 11 million more then J. Coles record set one week earlier. The album also shattered Spotify’s global record, reaching a total of 78,744,748 million streams globally.
“Cheers to Post Malone ‘beerbongs & bentleys’ has broken the first-day streaming record both globally (78,744,748) and in the U.S. (47,930,039)”, a Spotify representative said on Twitter.
