If you visit YouTube, scroll through Instagram or check the charts of your preferred streaming service, there’s a solid chance you’ll come across California hip-hop artist Swae Lee. The rising star first solidified himself in the music industry as one-half of hip-hop duo Rae Sremmurd along with his brother Slim Jxmmi, but later showed his ability to branch out as a solo artist with the May release of his debut solo album, Swaecation. Packaged as a triple album with Rae Sremmurd’s third album, SR4MM, along with Jxmmi’s debut album, Jxmtro, Lee’s album extended his traditional bass-heavy roots, throwing in a mix of melodic and tender tracks into the project that highlighted his vocal abilities

Along with his solo work, the California rapper has linked up with various artists across genre lines for more than a dozen collaborations in 2018, including the soothing Post Malone team-up “Sunflower,” which is currently at No. 7. on Billboard’s Hot 100.

After a monstrous 2018, Lee’s ready to start 2019 with a bang, revealing to Billboard that he’s ready to drop his second solo project sometime in January or February. “I’m thinking to drop it in late January or February. I’m working with Mike WiLL Made-It, Metro Boomin, Super Mario and also couple of underground producers who aren’t mainstream yet but have that mainstream sound. Like I got Chase The Money, Ronny J and DJ Sremm — our Rae Sremmurd DJ — on there too,” Lee said.

Mike WiLL Made-It also revealed some clues about the album, writing on Instagram that the project’s being put together in the lab now and is a masterpiece.
