‘Reacher’ Season 2 – Release Date, Cast, Spoilers, and More

Jack Reacher has returned to our screens after a brief sabbatical following Tom Cruise’s portrayal of the character. Reacher is now available on Amazon Prime Video as a TV show, thus the displays are a little smaller than they were before.

Still, Reacher is more popular than ever because to Alan Ritchson’s starring turn. The Titans star, at 6 feet 2 inches, is closer to Reacher’s towering 6 feet 5 inches than he appears in the books, and he makes full use of that stature in season one of Reacher.

Season two of Reacher has yet to be announced. Where does Amazon’s upcoming Lee Child adaptation go from here? Get your reading glasses out and join us as we break down everything you need to know about Reacher season two on Amazon Prime Video.

Reacher season 2 probable release date: When will it air on Amazon Prime Video?

Season one of Reacher has been renewed by Prime Video just three days after it premiered.

Over the course of a 24-hour period, Reacher was one of Amazon’s five most-watched series ever, according to Deadline (via Amazon). It’s also ranked high among users too, so this speedy renewal shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise.

With the announcement’s speedy turnaround, we think fresh episodes will likely appear by early 2023, or even summer 2023 if we’re… stretching.

Reacher season 2 cast: Who is in it?

Reacher season one boasts a vast cast including but not limited to:

  • Malcolm Goodwin as Oscar Finley
  • Willa Fitzgerald as Roscoe Conklin
  •  Kristin Kreuk as Charlie
  • Harvey Guillén as Jasper

But given how the finale ended, it looks like the only cast member who’s guaranteed to return is Alan Ritchson as Reacher himself. Unless, of course, some odd recasting shenanigans take on behind the scenes.

Reacting to Reacher’s swift season two renewal, Ritchson shared the following on Instagram:

“Whoaaaaaa!!! This is just amazing! Unlike Reacher who chooses to say nothing, I’m simply speechless. In just our inaugural weekend you’ve made #ReacheronPrime one of the @primevideo most-watched shows EVER! That is absurd. There are so many people I’m grateful to for making this program as delightful as it is. But all of the creative creativity and undying passion by all those behind this would amount to nothing if you weren’t loving the world of Reacher. Thank you so much for your kind words.”

Even though Maxwell Jenkins might reprise his role in flashbacks, the showrunners may explore having someone else play Reacher’s younger self in order to avoid having the actor age up too quickly. (Honestly: hardly likely, now that the essential facts have been covered over – Lee Child doesn’t give Reacher much more backstory than you’ve previously seen, save for the books set during his military experience.)

Reacher season 2 plot: What will happen?

Reacher season one featured Jack’s search for whoever killed his brother, and by the end of the last episode, the case is pretty much wrapped up.

With that mystery solved, Reacher resolves to break ways with Margrave in quest of something new, despite Roscoe’s wish to the contrary. “If you wander back, give me a call,” she says before handing Jack a Clark chocolate wrapper with her number written on it.

After he says his farewell, Reacher buries a medal (which has a tremendous deal of sentimental meaning) in his brother’s resting place. And then, brushing away his tears, Jack continues to hitchhike onto pastures fresh.

There are three prequels to Killing Floor that could serve as inspiration for Season 2, but Lee Child’s second Jack Reacher novel, Die Trying, is likely to serve as the core of the tale for that season.

That novel opens out with a surprise kidnapping where… We don’t want to give anything away, so we won’t. Just know that Reacher will have enough of material to work with in the future, as there are now 26 novels in the series’ canon.

When asked by Radio Times which book could be adapted next, Child had this to say:

“I haven’t had a chance to read them yet. I’ve written them. I never reread them. I know them by reputation, what other people tell me about him. And then there are those that are extremely well-liked. And I think what was so great about this first season was Reacher’s loneliness being assuaged by his relationships with other people, and I would like to see more of that. Three books, in particular, stand out for me in this regard. Perhaps one of them falls into this category.”

The child doesn’t care what happens. When Amazon announced that the Reacher series will be revived, the author released the following statement:

“Partnering with Amazon Studios for season one of Reacher was a total delight – they had our backs every step of the way, and it really shows, in every line and every frame. So I’m thrilled we’ll be working together again, for season two. This is incredibly fantastic news, and I can’t wait to get started. Reacher couldn’t be in better hands.”

Reacher season 2 Trailer: When can I watch it?

It’s not too much of a reach to imply that new footage from Reacher season two will appear in the weeks leading up to its launch. So that will likely be in early 2023.
