Travis Barker is a PTSD Patient
Travis Barker and Adam “DJ AM” Goldstein, a close friend, and longtime colleague, performed together at a concert in South Carolina in September 2008. Following the performance, they boarded a private aircraft with their security personnel Charles “Che” Still and Chris Baker.
What followed continues to affect Travis now. As the plane was attempting to take off, its tires burst. Then it slammed into a hillside and quickly caught fire.
Unfortunately, Charles and Chris did not survive, but Travis and Adam were able to flee. Because Travis was covered in jet fuel, his body was consumed in flames.
Travis sustained 2nd and 3rd-degree burns covering 65 percent of his body before Adam used his own shirt to put out the fire. Travis would completely give up while Adam would pass away from a drug overdose a year later.
Travis opened out in a June 2021 interview with Men’s Health Magazine about the PTSD he experienced as a result of the encounter. He underwent “26 surgeries and several skin grafts” during his rehabilitation, which was anything but simple. He had a terrible time falling asleep and couldn’t bear to look at a plane just after the disaster.
He said, “I really didn’t want to witness it; I was certain it was going to crash.
Although time has undoubtedly been helpful, Travis attributes a lot of his healing to breath work. Travis was advised to give it a try by a massage therapist because, according to her, “You may be holding on to some trauma that otherwise you might not be able to get out of your system.” The idea terrified him since it required a loss of control, which was something he struggled with.
Travis, though, had a supernatural encounter after giving it a shot.
It started with many breaths. And it’s not a very comfortable method of breathing,” he said. “However, once you get into the groove of it, you stop thinking about it altogether. Your body is trembling.
After giving in, Travis started crying and experienced a strong bond with his mother. A burden was removed from him.
Fans have left countless encouraging comments on social media on Travis’s current state. Let’s hope we soon get good news concerning his health.
